# LLM Nonsense > LLM Nonsense is an AI education brand and learning platform that explains artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs) in plain English for complete beginners. Tagline: "Making sense of the nonsense." No PhD, no hype, no nonsense. LLM Nonsense teaches the basics of AI through short lessons, an AI tutor that explains things like a patient friend, and a free plain-English AI glossary. Its tone is honest, a bit cheeky and never condescending. The goal of every lesson is the reaction "oh, that's all it is?" ## Key pages - [Home](https://llmnonsense.com/): overview, content series, courses and FAQ - [The Nonsense Dictionary](https://llmnonsense.com/dictionary): plain-English definitions of 22 AI and LLM terms - [Privacy policy](https://llmnonsense.com/privacy) ## Content series - **Nonsense Decoded**: one AI buzzword per episode, translated into plain English - **Nonsense Detector**: real AI hype headlines and posts rated from 1 to 10 on a "nonsense meter" - **Sense Made**: hands-on mini courses, such as writing your first prompt, stopping ChatGPT from making things up, and using AI for your actual job - **Ask a Dumb Question**: a no-judgment Q&A where beginners submit the AI questions they were embarrassed to Google ## Courses and products - **Nonsense 101**: free starter course on what AI is, how chatbots work and why they sometimes make things up - **From Nonsense to Sense**: the flagship course with an AI tutor, from "what's a token?" to using AI confidently at work (launching soon) - **The Nonsense Dictionary**: free plain-English AI glossary - **Nonsense Proof**: a completion badge for the flagship course ## FAQ ### Do I need to know how to code? Nope. If you can send a text message, you can do this. The tutor only gets technical when you ask it to. ### Is this just another AI hype channel? The opposite. We exist to call out hype. If something is overblown, the Nonsense Detector will say so, on a scale of 1 to 10. ### What is the AI tutor, exactly? An AI that explains things in plain language, answers your follow-ups and checks you actually get it. Think of it as the patient friend who never sighs. ### How long does Nonsense 101 take? Short lessons you can do on a coffee break. Go at your own pace and skip what you already know. ## Glossary (The Nonsense Dictionary) - **Artificial intelligence (AI)**: Software that does things we normally associate with human thinking, like understanding language, recognizing images or making predictions. - **Machine learning**: A way of building AI where the computer learns patterns from lots of examples instead of following rules a person wrote by hand. - **Neural network**: A kind of machine learning model made of many simple math units in layers. It is loosely inspired by the brain, but it is just math. - **Generative AI**: AI that creates new content, such as text, images, audio or code, based on patterns it learned from existing examples. - **Large language model (LLM)**: An AI model trained on huge amounts of text to predict the next word. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are built on LLMs. - **Chatbot**: A program you talk to in plain language. Modern chatbots usually run on a large language model. - **Token**: A chunk of a word. AI reads and writes text in little pieces, not whole words or single letters. - **Context window**: How much text the AI can keep in mind at once, including your messages and its replies. Its short-term memory. - **Prompt**: The thing you type to the AI. Yes, that is it. That is the whole thing. - **Hallucination**: When the AI makes something up and says it with total confidence. It predicts plausible text, not checked facts. - **Training data**: The examples an AI model learns from. Its quality shapes everything the model knows and gets wrong. - **Parameters**: The millions or billions of numbers inside a model that get adjusted during training. They store what the model learned. - **Temperature**: A setting that controls how random the AI's answers are. Low means safe and predictable, high means more creative and more chaotic. - **Embedding**: A way of turning words or documents into lists of numbers so a computer can measure how similar their meanings are. - **RAG (retrieval-augmented generation)**: Letting the AI look things up in your documents or a database before it answers, so it relies less on memory. - **Fine-tuning**: Extra training on a smaller, focused set of examples so a model gets really good at one specific job. - **Inference**: The moment the AI actually runs and produces an answer, as opposed to when it was being trained. - **Multimodal**: An AI that can handle more than one kind of input or output, such as text, images, audio or video. - **AI agent (agentic AI)**: An AI that does not just answer but takes steps for you, like searching, clicking or using other tools, to finish a task. - **Prompt injection**: A trick where hidden instructions in a web page, email or file try to make an AI do something its user did not ask for. - **Bias**: When an AI's output is unfair or skewed because of patterns in its training data or how it was built. - **AGI (artificial general intelligence)**: A hypothetical AI that could learn and do any intellectual task a human can. It does not exist yet, and experts disagree on when or if it will. ## Contact - Email: hello@llmnonsense.com - Social: @llmnonsense on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram
